Tami Roman Reveals New Life After 'Basketball Wives' Departure
Many fans of reality TV OG Tami Roman will remember her from the early 90's when she graced screens as one of the first African American women to participate in MTV's groundbreaking series The Real World Years later after a brief hiatus to focus on her family Tami returned to television on the Shaunie O'Neal helmed VH1 series Basketball Wives. And while she was on the show fans definitely got their money's worth with the amount of drama she encountered with former co-star Evelyn Lozada. But after she departed midway through Season 8 fans were left with a void only Roman could fill. However, with a new marriage and other projects underway she has no regrets about leaving that toxic environment behind.

'Basketball Wives' Star Tami Roman NOT Returning to Show, Despite Offer
In an interview with Human Nature magazine (via Showbiz Cheatsheet) Roman goes on record admitting how life has changed for her in the aftermath of her departure. She also goes into detail about what lead to her exiting the show and why she has no plans on going back.
After watching her behavior play out for some time, Roman vowed to make a change for the better. She tried to be the voice of reason on the show versus an aggressor and worked to change the narrative of her public image. Her storylines began to focus more on her life as a mother, partner, and budding actress.
Unfortunately the changes she tried to implement didn't help with the way she was perceived, and eventually, her fellow castmates tried to get her to return to her old ways. That's when she knew it was time to go.
Roman went on to admit how she feels about the current cast, including her longtime nemesis Evelyn Lozada, who always has something nasty to say.
Roman also threw jabs at her Basketball Wives nemesis, Evelyn Lozada, who attempted and failed to file a restraining order against OG for defamation of character. Roman insisted Lozada’s use of the court system is contradictory considering Lozada’s history with being violent toward her castmates. “Can you really get a restraining order when you’re the one who needs restraining?” Roman said.
She also admitted that she wasn't pressed about missing the reunion special either because as far as she was concerned it was time to move onto bigger and better things.
“I actually didn’t watch the reunion. I did not,” she said. “I haven’t watched a lot of the show this season in general. I was out with my family, my husband and I see clips by way of social media, so I haven’t seen the full reunion, but I have seen clips.” Roman elaborated on why she’s as far removed from the show as she is. “I think I checked out about two years ago, but my contract said, b—h clock in,” she said. “It is what is. I think that I just have run my course.”
