The 2-year-old daughter of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett drowned in the family swimming pool Sunday in what authorities said appeared to be a tragic accident.

Tampa Bay Police got a call from Barrett’s home just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday about a child who had fallen into a pool, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Though she was rushed to the hospital, the toddler, Arrayah, could not be revived.

No foul play was suspected in the death of the youngest of Barrett’s four children. The brokenhearted family celebrated her second birthday about two weeks earlier.

“It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident,” the Tampa Police Department told the Daily News in an emailed statement.

The 30-year-old linebacker is entering his fifth season as he returns from a torn Achilles that cut short his 2022 season. He signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent in 2019, then led the NFL with 19.5 sacks.

He and his wife Jordanna were high school sweethearts and have three older children, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The team confirmed the girl’s death and expressed condolences.

Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family,” the Buccaneers said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time. While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”
