Tampa Bay re-signs DL Pat O’Connor

It’s been a defensive line and special teams kind of Saturday for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After bringing back Cam Gill and bringing on Greg Gaines, the Bucs have re-signed defensive lineman and special teams player Pat O’Connor according to The Score’s Jordan Schultz. O’Connor will get a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum of $1.08 million.
O’Connor has served as both a notable special teams player and as defensive line depth in his time in Tampa Bay. He has the most special teams snaps on the team in the last four years (1,115), so the signing is further emphasis on keeping the special teams unit together this offseason. On the defensive side of the ball, O’Connor has amassed 1.5 sacks and 20 total tackles since entering the NFL in 2017.
The Bucs appear to be addressing the team’s cap situation by focusing on depth signings with the players the team currently has, and O’Connor certainly falls into that notion as the longtime special teamer returns to Tampa Bay.
