What’s closed or canceled because of Hurricane Idalia in Tampa Bay

Hurricane Idalia is bearing down on Florida and venues across Tampa Bay are making plans to close or cancel events this week.

Here’s what we know so far.

International Plaza and Bay Street in Tampa will close today at 4 p.m. until further notice, however it is expected to reopen Wednesday.

The Morean Arts Center, Chihuly Collection, Morean Center for Clay and Morean Glass Studio in St. Petersburg closed today at noon and will reopen at noon on Thursday. moreanartscenter.org.

Florida CraftArt in downtown St. Petersburg is closed through Wednesday. floridacraftart.org.

The Woodson African American Museum of Florida in St. Petersburg is closed today and Wednesday. woodsonmuseum.org.

The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg will be closed on Tuesday. Check its website for updates. thedali.org.

The Columbia Restaurant’s location at the Tampa Bay History Center is closed immediately and is expected to reopen on Thursday. Its Sand Key location in Clearwater Beach will be closed Tuesday with a reopening to be determined and its location at Tampa International Airport will close Tuesday.

Imagine Museum in St. Petersburg will be closed Tuesday-Wednesday with a tentative plan to reopen on Thursday at noon. Tuesday night’s Sip & Sketch event has been canceled. imaginemuseum.com.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and will close at 3 p.m. today and remain closed through Wednesday, with a plan to reopen on Thursday. Updates will be communicated through social media and websites. buschgardens.com/tampa.

Adventure Island Tampa will be closed today through Thursday with a plan to reopen on Friday. adventureisland.com.

The Tampa Bay History Center is closed through Wednesday. Check the center’s website for reopening information. tampabayhistorycenter.org.

The Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg is closed today through Wednesday. Staff will continue to assess the weather and will make an official reopening announcement when they know more. mfastpete.org.

Tampa’s Amalie Arena has rescheduled Tuesday’s $ucideboy$ concert for Nov. 5. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the new date; refunds are available at the original point of purchase through Sept. 28. amaliearena.com.

Tuesday’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Live in Concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater has been postponed. Ticketholders will be contacted directly via e-mail and tickets will be honored for the new performance date, which will be announced soon. rutheckerdhall.com.

The Tampa Museum of Art is closed through Wednesday. Classes at the museum’s Vinik Family Education Center and offsite locations have also been canceled. The museum will make a reopening announcement once the storm’s impact has been assessed. htampamuseum.org.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum in Sarasota closed the Ca’ d’Zan (historic Ringling house) today to prepare for the storm and the entire estate including the art and circus museum, Historic Asolo Theater and gardens will be closed Tuesday-Wednesday. ringling.org.

ZooTampa at Lowry Park will be closed to guests on Tuesday and Wednesday. It plans to reopen on Thursday following a thorough park safety assessment. According to a statement, the zoo’s weather preparedness plan includes “moving larger animals into their night houses, which are built to withstand major storms, and smaller mammals and birds into ancillary buildings.” A team of personnel are in place to ride out the storm. zootampa.org.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is closed through Wednesday and will make updates via social media throughout the storm. According to a post on its Facebook page, “teams have been diligently preparing our building to protect our resident animals from the storm. Hurricane shutters are in place, our generators are ready, food has been prepared, and a hurricane ride-out team is in place.” cmaquarium.org.

The Florida Aquarium in Tampa will be closed Tuesday-Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates. flaquarium.org.

The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art will close Tuesday-Wednesday. It is expected to reopen on Thursday, but that is subject to change. thejamesmuseum.org.

The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts will be closed through Wednesday (no performances were scheduled). Classes and activities at the Patel Conservatory have been canceled Tuesday-Wednesday; parents and students will be contacted by a representative. The facility plans to reopen on Thursday, conditions permitting. strazcenter.org.

The Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg will be closed Tuesday-Wednesday. thefhm.org.

Creative Pinellas in Largo will close its gallery and administration building Tuesday-Wednesday. Staff will monitor the weather and make a reopening announcement when a date is set.creativepinellas.org.

The Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce has postponed the Cannon Fire & Cocktails event with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that was scheduled for tomorrow at Armature Works. tampabaychamber.com.

St. Petersburg’s Freefall Theatre has canceled Wednesday’s performance of A Motown Celebration. Ticketholders for that performance will be contacted by the theater for rescheduling. freefalltheatre.com.

The Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin will be closed Tuesday-Wednesday and all events and classes on those days have been canceled. firehouseculturalcenter.org.
