Tampa’s Busch Gardens is opening a new swinging family ride
A new suspended swinging family roller coaster with onboard audio called Phoenix Rising is coming to Busch Gardens next spring, the park announced Monday.
The suspended coaster will travel over the park’s Serengeti Plain and the Pantopia section. There will be onboard audio featuring a choreographed soundtrack.
“Riders will feel the rush of the wind and thrill of the flight in this suspended roller coaster that enable ride cars and riders to swing side to side as the train races along the track high above the Serengeti Plain,” a park news release said. “Phoenix Rising will be the first coaster to feature on-board audio, enhancing the ride experience with a one-of-a-kind soundtrack, integrated into an exhilarating array of twists, turns and surprises for families riding together.”
Busch Gardens said Phoenix Rising will travel at speeds up to 44 miles per hour throughout the 1,831-foot journey. The limit for passengers will be 42 inches, which is the height of the average 4 to 6 year old.
Phoenix Rising is expected to open sometime in the spring of 2024.
The ride takes the place of SandSerpent, the 19-year-old ride Busch Gardens shut down this summer.
