Tampa police arrest man who killed moped driver in hit-and-run, officials say

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department arrested a man who allegedly killed another man in a hit-and-run Friday morning, according to a release.

Officers said they responded to a crash involving a moped on East Hillsborough Avenue at about 3:57 a.m.

Investigators allege that Nicholas Harrison, 38, was driving his Dodge Charger when he crashed into a 27-year-old on a moped.

The victim died at the scene, but Harrison fled the scene of the crash while dragging the moped until it came off, according to police. Officers found the victim’s moped less than a mile away from the scene.

Harrison turned himself into Tampa police at about 6 p.m. Police said he was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with death.
