Nothing feels better in cold weather than a big bowl of chili. Luckily, the Firefighter Charity BBQ & Chili Competition is this weekend along with other great events like TedxEustis, ASD Safety Day and the Florida Storytelling Festival.

9th Annual Firefighter Charity BBQ & Chili Competition

There's nothing better than finger lickin' BBQ and tasty chili. Come compete or sample food in the Firefighters Charity BBQ & Chili Contest at Gator Harley, 1745 US Highway 441 in Leesburg, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This is a charity benefit for the Firefighter's Charity Alliance, a local non-profit organization and helps support the many community programs conducted through out the year.

TedxEustis 2022

On Saturday, check out the 5th Annual TEDxEustis from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. held at Eustis High School auditorium.

The event will feature speakers, performers and more. This year’s theme is Connecting. In a world separated by serious illness and strife, connecting is the primary way to remind each other of our humanity and to create long-lasting bonds that transcend our differences. Let’s start connecting.

Tickets are $50.

Jazz and More

Jazz and More will have you tapping your feet on the floor and laughing out loud on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Lake Square Mall, 10401 US 441 in Leesburg.

Event will feature Dueling Pianos, Comedian Al Schubowsky, 9th Street Jazz Company, Beacon College Guest Speaker and John DePaola Trio.

Tickets are $50 for general admission, $25 for students, $45 for seniors.

ASD Safety Day at Lake Eustis

Come on out to a free disability safety fair and help your child know the community and the community know your child at Ferran Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Introduce your family to local police, EMTs, firefighters and even the mayor of Eustis.

Enjoy games, vendors, ASD resources, entertainment, food trucks, networking opportunities, mini ASD seminars with police and experts and more.

Photography Workshop

Grab your camera and meet in the park to learn about nature photography composition led by Kathryn "KT" Wise on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 450 12th St. in Clermont.

Florida Storytelling Festival

Enjoy four days of storytelling performances, concerts, workshops, networking and fun by the featured professional storytellers. Beginning on Thursday and running through Sunday at Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora.

Speakers include Josh Goforth, Sue O’Halloran, Cooper Braun, Madeline Pots, Orisirisi African Folklore with Don and Tutu Harrell.
