Tapped In CT: With Halloween around the corner, what do craft breweries have on tap?

Happy Halloween! Let’s check out what breweries in Connecticut have on tap this week.

On the lighter end, you’ve got a pinot noir Beliner weisse, a fresh coffee porter and a delicious pumpkin brew filled to the brim with fall spices. The folks at NEBCo have a great entry point brew as well with their Welcome to NEBCo Lager. It’s simple, refreshing, and a great way to get your Friday night started.

Labyrinth’s bringing out the big guns with a 15.5% barleywine, while Relic’s got a 10% Triple IPA for the hophead in you. Might want to be careful around those if you’re hoping to stay upright for that Halloween party or shindig.

Broad Brook Brewing Co.: Wine-Not Rosé, 5.6% Berliner Weisse

915 South St., Suffield

Berliner Weisse’s are known for being fruit-forward, and this beer is no exception. Broad Brook’s brew uses Pinot Noir grape must from Chile, making for a more unique take on the style.

“Sour base fermented on Pinot Noir Grape Must from Chile.”

Counter Weight Brewing Co.: Fresh Drip, 5.8% Coffee Porter

7 Diana Court, Cheshire

It’s hard to beat a porter brewed with fresh coffee. Counter Weight’s Fresh Drip gets its beans from Yellow Kings in Wallingford, making for a delicious and drinkable brew.

“Fresh Drip was brewed with coffee from Yellow Kings in Wallingford. This years batch results in pronounced notes of coffee with cocoa, dark chocolate, and caramel with a touch of roast in a drinkable dark beer.”

Labyrinth Brewing Co.: Left Hand Path, 15.5% Barrel-Aged Barleywine

148 Forest St., Manchester

Barleywine fans won’t want to miss this beer. Labyrinth’s barleywine spent time in scotch barrels, giving it notes of smoke with a sherry like quality.

“A complex malt base with a tasteful but not overbearing amount of smoke. Aged in Isley and Highland scotch barrels this beer finishes with notes of cherries, oak, and has a sherry like quality.”

New England Brewing Co.: Welcome to NEBCo Lager, 4.8%

175 Amity Road, Woodbridge

New to NEBCo? They’ve got a beer for that. Their light, refreshing American lager is a fantastic choice for new beer-drinkers or folks looking for a simple, delicious brew.

“Welcome to NEBCo Lager is a perfect beer to quench any thirst. It’s a smooth and super clean lager with hints of grainy sweet corn, and a flirt between sweet, crisp, and dry. It’s brewed with European Pilsner malt, maize, rice, and a select blend of hops. It’s a perfect go to for everyone to enjoy a little NEBCo.”

Problem Solved Brewing Co.: Projectile Pumpkin, 6% Pumpkin / Yam Beer

2 N Road #4, East Windsor

Using their black lager base, Problem Solved added heaps of pumpkin and fall spices to this brew. The name is fantastic, too.

“We took our black lager and added a bunch of pumpkin and fall spices to bring you a nice cool weather treat. Did someone say pumpkin spice?”

Relic Brewing: 10% Triple Whim, Triple IPA

95 Whiting St., Plainville

You’ll want to sit down for this brew. Clocking in at a hefty 10%, this triple IPA out of Relic is packed with a variety of hops, giving it a juicy palette of guava and pineapple.

“Triple IPA brewed with loral, sultana, bravo hops, hazy and juicy with notes of guava and pineapple.”
