TWIN CITIES, MN — Christmas is likely to look different this year as millions of Americans opt to stay home, marking the holiday with smaller celebrations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Smaller celebrations, however, don’t necessarily mean we’ll bypass holiday traditions. And when it comes to Christmas dinner, a pandemic is certainly unlikely to stop us from forgetting that one key ingredient needed to make a perfect holiday meal.

Have no fear — there’s a large selection of grocery stores that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips in the Twin Cities.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open, along with a list of those that won’t:

ALDI: Stores will be open Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location; closed on Christmas Day.

Costco: Most stores will be open for limited hours on Christmas Eve, and all stores will be closed on Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

Cub Foods: Closing at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day

CVS: Most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day.

Hy-Vee: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day.

Kowalski's Markets: All stores close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day.

Lunds & Byerlys: Open on Christmas Eve from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on Christmas Day.

Sam’s Club: Stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

Target: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.

Trader Joe’s: All stores will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Stores are closed on Christmas Day.

Walgreen’s: Selected locations are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

Walmart: Most stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.

Whole Foods: Most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.
