Target Employee Hides in Fitting Room With Gunman in Store

A Target employee hid in the changing rooms of a store in Omaha, Nebraska, during a shooting incident on Tuesday, January 31, local media reported.

Local media reported that Elianne Robinson, who was working at the store, messaged her sister, Kaley Schlueter, with a video at around 12:13 pm local time, saying, “There’s a shooting in my Target. I’m in the fitting room. He shot so much, I don’t know if he’s killed anyone.”

At 12:38 pm, Robinson told Schlueter she was OK, the report added.

The Omaha Police Department said that county, state and federal agencies responded to a report of an active shooter inside the Target at 11:59 am.

Officers entered the store to find a “white male suspect armed with a rifle,” a police statement said.

The suspect was shot by an Omaha Police officer and declared dead at the scene. He was found to be in possession of an AR-15-style rifle and 13 loaded rifle magazines, the statement said.
