Target, Sam’s Club and 26 Other Major Retailers Upgrading Their Curbside Pickup

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow, many Americans are searching for safer ways to get their essentials. In response, Target announced on June 25 that it would be expanding its curbside pickup options to include produce, dairy, bakery, meat and frozen products. The update will roll out throughout the year and will be available in more than 1,500 stores in time for the holidays, USA Today reported.

If you want to avoid heading into the store as much as possible, consider shopping at Target and these other major retailers that are now offering curbside pickup, which could be one of the many ways shopping changes.

1. Ace Hardware

Curbside pickup is now available at select Ace Hardware locations. Some restrictions apply, so be sure that what you want to purchase is eligible for this pickup option.

2. Aldi

In late May, Aldi announced that it would be expanding its Curbside Grocery Pickup to nearly 600 stores across the country by the end of July.

“Our Curbside Grocery Pickup pilot was quickly embraced by our customers and demand for this service has continued to increase. We’re pleased to be bringing this service to customers across 35 states over the next several weeks,” Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi U.S. said in a news release. “We are always looking for ways to make the ALDI shopping experience even more convenient and accessible for everyone. Whether shopping in-store, or online for delivery or pickup, we’ll continue to be here to safely serve our customers.”

3. Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble’s “Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store” option now includes a curbside pickup option. It’s only available at select stores, but may be available even if your local store is currently closed.

4. Bed Bath & Beyond

Contactless curbside pickup is now available at select Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Online orders are ready within two hours or less, and an employee will bring your items directly to your car and place them in your open trunk.

5. Best Buy

Best Buy introduced a contactless curbside service on March 22. The option is available even as some stores remain closed and enables customers to make returns and exchanges curbside as well.

6. Big Lots!

Big Lots! is now offering curbside pickup for online orders. When you arrive at the store, call and let an associate know that you are in the parking lot, and a team member will bring your order out to you.

7. Bloomingdale's

“For your safety and comfort, you can now shop online and receive orders at select store locations from your car, contact-free,” Bloomingdale’s announced on its website. Pickup hours vary by location.

8. Buybuy Baby

Buybuy Baby is now offering contactless curbside pickup for online orders. Orders are ready in two hours and can be brought directly to your car.

9. The Container Store

The Container Store extended its contactless curbside pickup to most areas in response to the coronavirus. It has also limited its store hours as a safety precaution, so keep that in mind when ordering for pickup.

10. Dick's Sporting Goods

Dick’s Sporting Goods closed all of its storefronts in March, but added a new “Curbside Contactless Pickup” so that customers could continue to easily shop their offerings, USA Today reported. With this option, employees deliver your online orders directly to your backseat or trunk.

11. GameStop

GameStop has introduced a new Delivery@Door option. You can shop on the GameStop website or app, and an associate will meet you outside the store with your order when it is ready for pickup.

12. Guitar Center

“We are excited to let you know that Contactless Curbside Pickup is now available at select Guitar Center Store locations,” the retailer announced on its website. “This is a convenient way for you to shop online from the safety of your home and quickly pick up your gear in your car. We are implementing social distancing and safety practices at all of our curbside pickup locations as part of our commitment to help keep our customers and our associates safe.”

13. Home Depot

Get your home improvement project supplies without entering the store thanks to Home Depot’s new curbside pickup option. This free service is available at select locations daily until 6 p.m.

14. Joann

Joann has made picking up crafting supplies a contactless experience by introducing curbside pickup. The option is available at open locations. Simply call the store when you arrive and an employee will bring your order to your car.

15. Kay Jewelers

In response to the coronavirus crisis, Kay Jewelers has added the options to speak to jewelry consultants via the phone, virtual appointments and live chat. They have also implemented curbside pickup at select stores.

16. Kohl's

Kohl’s introduced a new curbside pickup option on April 2 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The new option allows customers to shop online and get their items within two hours through limited contact curbside pickup.

17. Macy's

Macy’s has implemented a number of changes in response to the coronavirus, including the addition of a contact-free curbside pickup option. The option is only available at select locations, so check with your local store before ordering.

18. Michaels

Michaels recently added a curbside pickup option that allows you to get arts and crafts supplies without leaving your car. Curbside pickup is available daily until 6 p.m.

19. Office Depot

Free curbside pickup is now available at most Office Depot locations. Orders must be placed at least two hours before store closing for same-day pickup; orders are usually ready within an hour.

20. Old Navy

Old Navy has rolled out a new contactless curbside pickup option. Orders are ready within two hours or less when placed by 2 p.m.

21. Petco

There’s no need to leave your car to get pet supplies with Petco’s new curbside pickup service. In addition to being convenient, you’ll get 10% off your order when you choose this option.

22. PetSmart

PetSmart has also expanded its store pickup options to include curbside pickup. When you arrive at the store, call and provide your name and car make and model, and an associate will place the order on your seat or in your trunk.

23. Sam's Club

Sam’s Club announced on June 11 that it would be rolling out a curbside pickup option at its nearly 600 locations, USA Today reported. The new option is free for Plus members, and is temporarily free for club-level members as well. Refrigerated and frozen items will be available for curbside pickup, too.

24. Staples

Staples is now offering curbside pickup for online orders. And for a limited time, the office supply store is offering free delivery on all orders with no minimum.

25. Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty has added a curbside pickup option in addition to its in-store pickup option.

“The comfort and safety of our associates and guests come first,” Ulta stated on its website. “All orders will be limited contact and follow CDC guidelines.​”

26. Walmart

Pre-pandemic, Walmart had a curbside pickup option for groceries, but other items had to be picked up in-store. In May, the big-box store updated its app to allow you to shop for groceries and its wide range of other items in other departments as one purchase, all available for curbside pickup, USA Today reported.

27. Zales

As part of its response to the coronavirus pandemic, Zales has added a “curbside concierge” service. Curbside services include purchases, returns, exchanges, repair pickup, new purchase repair take-in and credit card or layaway payments. This option is available at select stores and requires an appointment.
