Tarrant reports 25 COVID deaths over weekend, including male under 20, 4 in their 40s

Tarrant County reported 25 COVID-19 deaths and 840 new cases over the past two days.

The county reported 431 new cases on Sunday and 409 on Saturday.

The nine COVID-related deaths reported on Sunday include a Fort Worth woman in her 40s, a Haltom City man in his 40s, a Fort Worth man in his 50s, a Haltom City man in his 50s, an Arlington man in his 70s, an Azle man in his 70s, a Fort Worth man in his 80s, a White Settlement man in his 80s, and a Bedford man older than 90.

All nine had underlying health conditions, according to officials.

Saturday’s 16 COVID-related deaths included an Arlington male under 20, two Fort Worth men in their 40s, a man from rural Tarrant County in his 50s, a Fort Worth man in his 60s, an Arlington woman in her 60s, a Hurst man in his 60s, two women from rural Tarrant County in their 70s, a Fort Worth woman in her 70s, an Arlington man and woman in their 70s, a Benbrook woman in her 80s, a Lake Worth man in his 80s, and a Fort Worth man and woman in their 80s.

One of the 16 did not have underlying health conditions, according to officials.

The county has reported 359,971 COVID-19 cases, including 4,653 deaths and an estimated 342,422 recoveries.

The county doesn’t report complete COVID data on the weekends. That data, including positive test rates and hospitalizations, resume Monday.

Tarrant County is offering free COVID-19 vaccines and testing at locations throughout the area.

Note to readers: Tarrant County does not release data on the vaccination status of recently diagnosed patients or deaths. Officials have released this type of data once in June and it showed that nearly 100% of the new cases reported at the time (from May to mid-June) were in people who were not vaccinated. Further, county officials said fewer than 200 of those new cases at the time were in previously vaccinated Tarrant residents.

According to Texas Department of State Health Services, 68.21% of Tarrant County residents 12 or older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 60.55% of residents 12 or older have been fully vaccinated.

DSHS also reports that 88.33% of Tarrant residents 65 or older have received at least one dose, and 81.86% of residents 65 or older have been fully vaccinated.

More than 73.34% of Texas residents 12 or older have received at least one dose, according to DSHS. Fully vaccinated Texas residents 12 or older are at 63.70%.
