Task force raid leads to dealing charges against New Castle pair

NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Complaints received about drug activity at a New Castle home have resulted in dealing charges against two local residents.

Kevin Darnell Rowland, 45, and Shannon Marie Henchon, 46, both of the 1100 block of Indiana Avenue, were each charged Wednesday in Henry Circuit Court 1 with dealing in a controlled substance, dealing in meth and dealing in cocaine.

One of the dealing counts is a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison, while the other two are Level 3 felonies with maximum 15-year sentences.

Members of the Henry County Area Drug Task Force, who had been observing activity at the Indiana Avenue home, served a search warrant there on Monday and seized "spice" — a synthetic form of marijuana — along with more than six grams each of meth and cocaine, and several controlled substances, including buprenorphine and diazepam.

Henchon was arrested at the house, while Rowland was apprehended in a traffic stop.

Henchon — who continued to be held in the Henry County jail on Thursday under a security bond of $83,000 and a cash bond of $7,450 — was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

She has been convicted of possession of cocaine and possession of a narcotic drug.

Rowland — being held under a $10,000 surety bond and a $700 cash bond — also faces those four additional charges, along with possession of a narcotic drug and driving as a habitual traffic offender.

Court records reflect no prior felony convictions for the New Castle man.

Another woman arrested Monday during the task force raid — Breanna Beaudry, 25, of New Castle — was charged Wednesday in Henry Circuit Court 3 with visiting a common nuisance, a misdemeanor.
