Taskmaster season 16 spoilers follow.

Taskmaster has found its season 16's winner in Sam Campbell, who also debuted a brand new bleached hairdo for the occasion.

Tonight's (November 23) episode had some surprises in store for fans as well as this year's quintet — Sam, Lucy Beaumont, Julian Clary, Sue Perkins, and Susan Wokoma.

The comedians were up against each other for one last chance to impress Taskmaster Greg Davies and his sidekick Alex Horne and go home with Greg's prized gilded head.

The finale got off to an unexpectedly moving start courtesy of Julian, who managed to wipe the floor with his competition for the prize task. Asked to present the hosts with an object that gives you the biggest shock when you turn it around, Julian brought an urn containing his friend's ashes.

Covered in black polka dots, the ceramic yellow urn had the word 'shit' written in between a pair of red lips in the front. The foul-mouthed urn immediately puzzled Greg, but it was only when Julian revealed Taskmaster was his late pal's favourite programme and thought he'd have liked to be on the show that Greg's cold heart melted, giving Julian his well-deserved five points.

The show then moved on to the first task, with the taskers having to come up with the most shocking, but family-friendly, actions to perform on a doughnut. While Sam made a tiny bikini for his pastry, Lucy rocked a bird costume to chew on the doughnut and proceeded to feed poor Alex with it.

The second challenge turned the contestants into 1980s-inspired fitness instructors, tasked with creating their very own high-intensity, four-exercise routines that would then be edited together in a loop.

Later on, the comedians were split into two groups to man the reception of the newly opened Taskmaster Hotel, accommodating the bizarre requests of their only guest, Alex's alter ego, Chris.

Susan and Sue dealt with Chris's demands without losing their poise, while Julian, Lucy and Sam went for the opposite approach, meddling in the guest's affairs, jumping into bed with him and overcharging him.

Finally, the very last task of the season consisted in throwing some balls into a bathtub, with only Sam managing to complete it successfully, while his four co-stars were all eliminated in the first round.

Julian won the episode, but it was Sam who got to lift Greg's golden head as he was crowned this season's winner with 155 points. Julian followed with 155, Susan and Sue with 139 and 137 respectively, and Lucy with 129.

Taskmaster airs on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
