Taskmaster star Julian Clary had a hilarious mishap in tonight's episode, with the comedian getting into a fluster on set.

The 16th series sees Clary compete alongside Sue Perkins, Sam Campbell, Susan Wokoma and Lucy Beaumont, with one of the tasks requiring the group to come up with the best nickname they possibly can.

The challenge began as they sat in a caravan opposite co-host Alex Horne, but Julian got off to a hilarious start as he accidentally knocked the table, sending the board and accompanying letters flying.

It wasn't entirely fruitless for the comedian, who used the blunder as inspiration for his own nickname, calling himself "Butch" as he "didn't know [his] own strength."

Another amusing suggestion was from Wokoma, who called herself "Chain Bastard" as she tied Horne in a chain and tickled him with a feather.

Campbell won the task despite putting in the minimum amount of effort, with the Australian getting his nickname – "Doctor Cigarettes" – from a bystander on a nearby street.

The episode, which was won overall by Campbell, also featured a game of human battleships and a challenge akin to crazy golf, with Clary seemingly disdainful of whatever was put to him.

Whilst the current series still has some way to go, previous contestant Ivo Graham recently talked about his stint on the show, admitting that he harboured some regrets over his appearance.

"It was humbling and difficult, but there are humblings and difficulties in life that don't come with the helpings of fun and joy and professional progress that Taskmaster gives you," he began.

"I wish that I had been less visibly stressed by some of the tasks because I think I would have done better at them and I would have enjoyed them more. That said, I can't pretend that [it wasn't] an accurate portrayal of [how I] respond to tasks in my life."

Taskmaster series 16 airs and streams on Thursday nights at 9pm on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
