Tassia Hughes and Robert Kobleska win seats on the Greendale School Board

Tassia Hughes and Robert Kobleska have won seats on the Greendale School Board.

Hughes and Kobleska, both newcomers, outpolled Brian Bock and Tony Novinska to capture three-year seats, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's spring election.

Regardless of how the vote went, the board was going to get two fresh members.

Incumbent Thor Misko was eliminated in the Feb. 15 primary. Noelle Joers-Yanisch, the other incumbent, did not seek reelection.

Another challenger, Lorin Michael Schuchardt, was also eliminated in the primary.

Hughes said she's excited to join the school board and get to work.

"I'm super excited and I'm happy that the community has faith that I will advocate for all the kids in the district, as well as work with the staff and the parents and the community," Hughes said.

Kobleska said he's grateful for the result.

"I'm very appreciative of the citizens of Greendale electing me, and I'm just looking to do a good job and make them proud of me and to live up to my promises," Kobleska said.

He congratulated Hughes on her victory and Bock and Novinska for their campaigns.

"It's not easy putting yourself out there, and I wish those two nothing but the best of luck in the future," he said.

Novinska also offered his congratulations to Hughes and Kobleska.

"It was a hard-fought battle and less than 25 votes separated second to fourth place," Novinska said in an email. "I am proud of my campaign and shined a light on falling test scores. I congratulate Tassia and Rob for their wins."

Bock could not immediately be reached for an interview. Results are not official until they are canvassed.
