Theater: Urinetown: The Musical | March 9-19

Mark Hollmann/Greg Kotis play about a city in which a lengthy drought causes a ban on private toilets and a malevolent corporation profits by forcing people to pay for public necessities. Art: Mark Russell Exhibit | March 3-April 1

Local artist Mark Russell exhibit, “Artifacts,” features color pencil drawings and graphite studies of unique objects at Dare Arts Council’s Vault Gallery. Russell began working with graphite pencils, prismacolors and charcoal in 2022 after years of graphic design, digital painting for local establishments, and T-shirt art. Exhibit opening March 3 from 6-8 p.m., with opportunity to speak with Russell. Free and open to public. Running: Blackbeard’s Revenge 100 | March 25-26

Two-day, 100-mile and 100-kilometer challenge that traverses entire Outer Banks, from Corolla to Hatteras. People can participate individually, as part of relay team, or virtually. Entire course on paved roads. 100-mile start line is Historic Corolla Park, 100K start line is Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. Finish line is Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras. 100-mile registration fee $250, 100K registration $150, 100-mile relay registration $150, virtual race registration $60. Registration cutoff date March 17.

Kids: Little Diggers | March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Weekly Thursday morning sessions geared toward preschoolers at Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo. Staff helps kids explore outdoors through hands-on learning activities and nature play. Kids encouraged to wear durable clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Adults expected to stay with child for entire class.
