Taste of Belgium owner opening Fuel, 'nutritional-inspired' takeout restaurant in OTR
A ghost kitchen concept from Taste of Belgium is moving out to its own brick-and-mortar location.
Fuel will open in a 936-square-foot space on Vine Street early this month just a block up from Taste of Belgium.
It was initially launched as a ghost kitchen out of Taste of Belgium's Over-the-Rhine space in March by owner Jean-Francois Flechet. (A ghost kitchen is a professional kitchen that operates and prepares delivery-only meals.)

The nutritional-inspired, grab-and-go takeout restaurant will be a quick, healthy lunch spot that will complement its sister restaurant, according to a release. The concept is online-in-person, which will allow customers to order via a digital kiosk, where they can select ingredients to create a customized bowl.
Menu and base bowl options include farro, baby kale, red quinoa and more, then add protein selection and veggies. Each bowl is finished with a choice of sauces and toppings.
“We’re very excited to bring Fuel out of the ghost kitchen world and into life with a brick-and-mortar location,” Flechet said in the release. “Our goal was to create a new lifestyle restaurant where customers can choose healthier food options without a bunch of fillers like rice. At Fuel, the entire menu is inspired by nutrition and full of delicious Fuel for your body.”
Fuel will also offer catering services and is working to acquire a liquor license for to-go alcohol.

Both Fuel and Taste of Belgium are leased from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC).
