‘Taste of the NFL’ a delicious way to help a good cause

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A tasty event centered around the big game is set for this weekend, and it’s all to help a good cause.

The “Taste of the NFL” event is scheduled for Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center in central Las Vegas. According to the news release, the event is “the Super Bowl’s largest purpose-driven culinary event,” promising a blend of cuisine and culture. The net proceeds benefit the GENYOUth organization and its goal to tackle youth hunger and food insecurity.

The hosts and world-class chefs include Andrew Zimmern, Carla Hall, Tim Love, Lasheeda Perry, and Mark Bucher, alongside more than 25 local chefs. The newest additions to the roster include Lorena Garcia of Chica, Mauro Casanto and Joey Faugno of Carlo’s Bake Shop, both at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, Jennifer Yee of Wynn Las Vegas, Josh Capon of Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Todd English of Todd English Hospitality, Belle English of Williams-Sonoma, Matt Chacho of Wicked Spoon at The COSMOPOLITAN of Las Vegas, Lukasz Mackowiak of Morimoto Las Vegas at MGM Grand Las Vegas, Bob Broskey of RPM Italian at Caesars Palace, James Trees of Esther’s Kitchen, and Bryan Forgione of Buddy Valastro’s Restaurant Group.

Other chefs included in the event are Chef Steven Dominguez, Quaker’s Associate Research Chef and Culinary Lead, Charlene Gladden, Frito Lay’s Senior Research Chef and Culinary Lead, DJ Flores of Milpas, Paula Escudero and Sean Wilson of Smokin’ Good Bistro & Deli, Rochelle Hodge of Twice Baked, and Dan Chatman of Family Soul Restaurant, from the PepsiCo Foundation’s IMPACTO Hispanic Business Accelerator and Black Restaurant Accelerator programs.

NFL alums Will Blackmon, Daryn Colledge, Doug Flutie, Morlon Greenwood, Tony Moll, Shannon Sharpe, Jason Spitz, Stephen Tulloch, and Charles Woodson, among others who will also join the event, which promises an appearance from Miss America, and performances from Cirque du Soleil.

Tickets to the event are described as VIP-only and are available at the event’s website or via Ticketmaster.
