Taste of Ukraine fundraiser Nov. 12 to benefit war refugees

The Taste of Ukraine fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 4-7 p.m. in the Bethany United Church of ChristSocial Hall, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls.

To make the food as authentic as possible, States Meats and Perla Pierogies in Parma will provide some of the items on the menu, with the Bethany cooks using authentic Ukrainian recipes for the rest. Only 100 people will be served, so reservations can be made by leaving a voicemail on the church phone indicating how many will attend from your party, or by doing the same via email to office@bethanyucc.org.

The menu will feature:

  • Appetizers: Horseradish Deviled eggs

  • Whipped garlic salo on rye and Odesan zakuska on rye

  • Soup: Red Borscht (from States Meats)

  • Salad: Cucumber Salad

  • Main Course: Pierogies (Potato and Cheddar, Potato and Sauerkraut from Perla Pierogies), Kielbasa

  • (from States Meats)

  • Dessert: Ukrainian Cookies and Cakes

The cost of the meal is by donation – all proceeds go to provide food for the war refugees staying at the Stradch Church (The Greek Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) in Stradch, Ukraine. There will also be a Silent Auction and 50/50 raffle.

With the generosity of the Cuyahoga Falls community and the members of Bethany UCC, the church was able to meet its commitment again in October to send $ 5,100 to the Stradch Church. This money is used by the Church to feed the Ukrainian war refugees who have fled the destruction in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine and are now living at the church.
