Who is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for Sept. 12-17
TAUNTON— The fall high school sports season is in full swing in the Greater Taunton area.
Dighton-Rehoboth boys soccer have entered a new era with a new core of forwards and midfielders while new coaches for Taunton, Bristol-Plymouth and Dighton-Rehoboth girls soccer have been steering their teams in the right direction, with Julia Chaves netting a pair of goals for the Falcons in an important early win over Old Rochester and eighth grader Ashlyn Hebert earning a clean sheet for the Tigers in her varsity debut. Taunton boys cross country kicked off their Hockomock Kelley-Rex title defense with a win over King Philip while Bridgewater-Raynham golf earned only their second win against Xaverian in 14 years Thursday before dominating New Bedford Friday.
Bristol-Plymouth girls soccer's Ashleigh Genander was voted the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for Sept. 5-10, receiving 56% of the vote while Dighton-Rehoboth boys soccer's Brennan Silva came in second with 13% of the vote and Bristol-Plymouth volleyball's Nevaeh Sullivan received 10% to finish third.
As always, there were standout players for each team who helped guide their team to success last week, but only one can be named the Player of the Week.

Widegren finished first overall with a time of 25:29 against Old Colony.

Allie Silverman, Bridgewater-Raynham
Silverman scored a goal against West Bridgewater.
Merry Foley, Dighton-Rehoboth
Foley scored the lone goal of the game against Old Rochester.
