Who is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for June 13-18
TAUNTON— The Spring 2022 high school sports season has come to a close, and it'll certainly be one that people will talk about for years to come.
Both Taunton softball and baseball were crowned Division I state champions, becoming the first Mass. school since Bellingham in 2014 to capture both the both sports' titles in the same spring. The No. 3 Tigers softball team prevailed over No. 9 Peabody Friday to claim their second-straight title while the No. 2 Taunton baseball team got their revenge over No. 1 Franklin Saturday for their second title in three seasons.

Dighton-Rehoboth baseball and softball saw their impressive seasons come to a close in the Division III semifinals Tuesday, with the No. 11 Falcons baseball team being shut out for the first time all season by No. 10 Newburyport while the No. 3 D-R softball team fell to South Coast Conference rivals and eventual Division III champions No. 2 Greater New Bedford.
Bridgewater-Raynham baseball reached the Elite Eight while softball fell in the Round of 16, and B-R boys lacrosse, girls tennis, D-R boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, boys tennis and girls tennis and Bristol-Plymouth baseball and softball all made the postseason, showing the continued strength of spring sports in the Greater Taunton area, and a strength which shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Taunton baseball's Evan Cali is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for June 6-12, finishing with 30% of the vote. Taunton softball's Brooke Aldrich came in just behind him with 29% while B-R softball's Lily Welch finished third with 16% of the vote.

BASEBALL
Evan Cali, Taunton
Cali tossed a complete game giving up a run on six hits and a walk while striking out three against Franklin.
Hendrix Pray, Dighton-Rehoboth
Pray went two-for-three against Newburyport.
SOFTBALL
Liv Mendonca, Taunton
Mendonca went six and two-thirds innings giving up an earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out five against Peabody.
Lucy Latour, Dighton-Rehoboth
Latour had a double and three RBIs against Greater New Bedford.
