Taunton police help catch murder suspect on Tremont Street

TAUNTON — Law enforcement officers tracked a suspect in a Maine homicide to a Tremont Street apartment, arresting him after a brief foot chase on Friday.

Jorge Luis Pagan Sanchez, 41, was wanted in the shooting of 17-year-old Brandin Guerrero in Machias, Maine. According to Massachusetts State Police, agencies including Taunton police checked several locations in Taunton on Friday morning for Pagan Sanchez, who had ties to the Taunton area.

One of those spots was 325 Tremont St., a four-bedroom building used as apartments. Residents did not allow members of the arrest team to enter, so the troopers and officers set up surveillance on the building, according to state police.
