Taunton would receive $1.06M for drug prevention and treatment

Taunton would get $1.06M from opioid settlement

Taunton and Raynham have opted in to their share of a $26 billion national settlement with three opioid distributors and one manufacturer. The settlement, which was reached in July, holds three drug distributors — Cardinal Health, McKesson and AmerisourceBergen — and pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, accountable for their roles in the U.S. opioid epidemic. Taunton's share would be $1.06 million, though the money would be spread over 18 years. Raynham's portion would be $59,607.

Bristol Aggie student steps up to Betty White Challenge

The animals at Fall River's Forever Paws Animal Shelter have one Bristol Aggie student to thank for being a friend. Caitlin Gifford made some blankets to donate to Forever Paws, as part of the Betty White Challenge. The nationwide challenge gave a boost to local animal shelters, with fans of the late White making donations in her memory. White was a lifelong advocate for animals.

It was an eventful season on the links for Greater Taunton high school golfers this fall. With the season now come and gone, it's time to take one last look back at some of the area's top golfers and celebrate their accomplishments out on the course.
