Should Taunton voters be asked for an ID?

State law allows for poll workers to ask for ID, but only in narrow circumstances: For first-time voters in federal elections and for voters listed as inactive. Poll workers asking for IDs was one topic of discussion during a recent City Council meeting, where Election Director Pamela Menconi spoke before the council about Taunton's progress with administering elections.
