Tax Day is nearly upon us, and while no one enjoys doing taxes, everyone can appreciate a good deal.

Several business are offering a variety of freebies and discounts to help you get through the day, whether you have to pay or are just procrastinating to file.

Here's what you need to know about Tax Day and where to find some deals:

When is Tax Day?

Tax Day normally falls on April 15 each year, but there are occasional exceptions, according to irs.gov. The date has changed for 2023 due to the Emancipation Day holiday in Washington, D.C.

When is the tax deadline for 2022 taxes to be due on Tax Day 2023?

The deadline to file your 2022 taxes is Tuesday, April 18, 2023, according to census.gov. Automatic six-month extensions to file are available for free to anyone using Form 4868. Those who owe taxes should still pay by April 18 to avoid late payment penalties.

Tax Day food deals, restaurant discounts and other specials

Here is a list of businesses offering freebies and discounts:

  • Fazoli's: Participating restaurants are offering six free breadsticks with any purchase April 14-20.

  • Hooters: The restaurant will be offering the 1040EZ Meal for $10.40 on April 18. Options include your choice of four chicken tenders and fries, eight-piece boneless chicken and fries, or six bone-in chicken wings and fries. It will also offer "W-$2 Blue Moons" at $2 per draft pint and "W-$4 Off" Long Island iced tea (cost is $4.99 after discount at most stores).

  • Krispy Kreme: Purchase an Assorted or Original Glazed® dozen at regular price and get claim a second Original Glazed® dozen for the cost of the sales tax. Pricing will vary based on each state’s sales tax. Limit two dozen per customer in-shop and a limit of one when ordering online or though the app.

  • Nestle Rallies: Use code "Rallies2023" to save 25% off Nestle Rallies Nut Butter Bombs at checkout when you order at Amazon.

  • Office Depot OfficeMax: Visit the website for a coupon for free shredding up to 5 pounds through April 29. See coupon for restrictions.

  • Perdue Farms: Enter the code "TAXDAY18" to score 18% off all purchases on the website April 17-18.

  • Planet Fitness: Score a free hydromassage April 14-21. Just head to the website to enter your name and email address to claim your coupon.

  • Potbelly: Use the promo code "BOGO" to score a free original-sized sandwich when you buy an original-sized sandwich at regular price online or through the app on April 18.

  • Southwest Airlines: File with Turbo Tax and Rapid Rewards members can earn 1,000 bonus points. Just file your taxes with TurboTax using a Southwest Rapid Rewards account by April 18.

  • White Castle: Receive 18% off when using the promo code "SAVE" during April in-store or online.
