Tax Help Santa Fe returns to Fashion Outlets

Feb. 5—Tax Help Santa Fe, which has provided low-cost tax preparation since 2005, returned Jan. 25 to the Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe, 8380 Cerrillos Road.

Five tax preparers are on hand from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday to help people at all income levels fill out tax returns.

Tax Help Santa Fe offers free tax preparation for people earning less than $1,000 and charges $25 for incomes between $1,000 and $5,000 and $50 for $5,000 to $25,000. The standard fee tops out at $120 for incomes above $100,000.

Tax Help this year has three bilingual tax preparers.

"It's really helpful," said owner Peter Doniger. "I had one bilingual person last year and none the year before that."

Reservations are recommended and can be made at taxhelpsantafe.com or by calling 505-990-7431.

This is also the sixth year Tax Help Santa Fe is authorized by the IRS to create Individual Taxpayer ID numbers for undocumented workers, but Doniger said the number of people seeking that service has decreased substantially in recent years.
