Taylor Decker's elbow injury 'not as bad as we thought,' expected to play vs. Browns

Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker avoided serious injury to his left elbow and should make his second straight start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Decker went through the open portion of practice Friday with what appeared to be a large sleeve on his elbow.

He missed the first eight games of the season with a fractured left index finger, played every snap in last week's tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a full participant in practice Wednesday before sitting out Thursday.

The Lions officially listed him as questionable for Sunday's game.

“I think he’s good," Lions coach Dan Campbell said. "I think it was not as bad as we thought it could be, so I think this is — I think we’re fine, I think he’s going to be good to go and look he’s tough, man. So he’s going to handle this well. Got it checked out and should be good."

The Lions signed veteran Dan Skipper to their practice squad as insurance for their offensive line.

Matt Nelson, who saw significant action as a sixth lineman last week, will miss the Browns game with a sprained ankle. Defensive end Trey Flowers (knee) and running back Jermar Jefferson (knee/ankle) also are out, and safety Tracy Walker (concussion), running back Jamaal Williams (thigh) and receiver Trinity Benson (knee) are questionable.

Williams, who has not played since a Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, said he expects to return Sunday. Benson was added to the injury report Friday.
