Taylor Lewan reacts to Titans release with 'My Way' tribute video

Taylor Lewan's nine-year tenure with the Tennessee Titans is over.

The Pro Bowl left tackle was released along with other veterans on Wednesday as the Titans worked to save salary cap space heading into a critical offseason.

Not only was Lewan the longest tenured Titans player on the roster, he was the team's emotional leader for nine years. After the release was announced by the team, Lewan tweeted out a message to Titans fans along with a video.

"Thank you to every single Titan fan," Lewan tweeted on Wednesday. "Whether you loved me or hated me all I’ve ever wanted was to make this city proud and help Bring back a franchise. Thank you so much."

The video, originally tweeted by his podcast, Bussin' With the Boys, is about five minutes long and goes through Lewan's Titans career, including the team's struggles in his first two seasons, the team's resurgence and some of Lewan's most memorable moments. The video is played with Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' behind it.

Lewan was drafted No. 11 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft and was the team's starting left tackle by the end of his rookie year. He was the stalwart on an offensive line that grew to be one of the league's best in front of Derrick Henry, who led the NFL in rushing in 2019 and 2020.

But he has struggled with knee injuries over the last three seasons, missing 30 games over the last three seasons. Lewan's $14.84 million cap number in 2023 was non-guaranteed, thus making him a candidate for being released.

Lewan said it himself during Super Bowl week, telling the Titans' team website that he expected to be released and was open to either coming back at a reduced salary, moving on or retiring.

A tribute video from his podcast doesn't mean Lewan can't return to the Titans in some shape or form. But it does give off the vibe that Lewan is turning the page from his Titans career.
