Yes, the actual game is important. But the biggest question for millions of football watchers right now is: Will Taylor Swift make it back to the States in time for the Super Bowl?

Here’s a little background, for anyone who might need it, but unless you just crawled out of a cave, you have to be aware that the biggest superstar on the planet right now (that would be Taylor) is dating one of the biggest football stars in the NFL, Travis Kelce.

Kelce is playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday, as his Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas. Kelce and Swift have been an item since about September of last year, and Swift has attended a bunch of his games so far, and no doubt really wants to be there for the Super Bowl.

The problem, of course, is that Swift is in Tokyo for her Eras tour. Her final concert there is Feb. 10. The Super Bowl is Feb. 11.

Lots of people have been doing the math on concert lengths, time zones, flight times and the such. I mean lots. USA Today reported that the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., even issued a statement this week assuring fans that Swift has plenty of time to make it from Tokyo to Vegas on her private jet.

But still, neither Swift nor Kelce has yet to confirm or deny that Swift will actually be at the game.

So, around the world, millions of Swifties are filled with hope. Among those hyping Swift’s possible Super Bowl appearance are “Amazing Race” winners Kim and Penn Holderness, part of Raleigh’s Holderness Family. The Holdernesses released a video on social media last week — 13 days before the Super Bowl, in fact — in which Kim breaks it down as only a true Swiftie could.

The key to Kim’s confidence in a Taylor Swift-filled Super Bowl Sunday? The magic of the number 13, which we all know is Swift’s favorite number.

Kim points out:

  • This is Super Bowl 58. 5+8=13

  • Swift has attended 12 games so far. The Super Bowl would be her 13th game.

  • The Chiefs are playing the 49ers. 4+9=13

  • The 49ers are a 1 seed, the Chiefs are a 3 seed. 1 seed, 3 seed. 13.

  • The flight from Tokyo to Vegas? 13 hours (well, between 12 and 13).

There’s more. And it’s very funny. “She is a mastermind!” Kim explains.

But for real, will Taylor be at the Super Bowl?

For those wanting some actual math, here you go: Swift’s Saturday concert in Tokyo should end around 10:30 p.m., which is 5:30 a.m. in Vegas. It’ll take 12 to 13 hours for the 5,530-mile flight from Tokyo to Las Vegas, which would put her on the ground — in the same city as Kelce — Saturday night.

And spoiler alert: flight tracking sites Saturday morning show Swift’s plane in the air headed toward Los Angeles.

So, the next obvious question is: If the Chiefs win, could Taylor Swift attend a Super Bowl parade in Kansas City? Start mathing, Swifties!
