A Taylor Swift class is coming to the University of Texas. Are you ready for it?

Calling all Taylor Swift fans: Your wildest dreams are about to come true. The University of Texas is offering a class on Swift this fall, and we hope there’s still a blank space on the roster.

English professor Elizabeth Scala will teach a class on Swift's songbook starting this month to first-year undergraduates in the liberal arts honors program.

The new course is called Literary Contests and Contexts — The Taylor Swift Songbook and will provide students with an “introduction to literary studies and research methods” using her songwriting, according to a Facebook post by UT’s English department.

“Let’s turn that Easter Egg hunting and reading in detail to academic purposes!” the English department said in a post. Swift commonly includes hidden references in her lyrics and music videos about subjects of her songs or future album releases.

Scala said her daughter, a recent college graduate, introduced her to Swift after the release of "Red (Taylor's Version)" in November. Scala said Swift is the focus of the class because she is an exceptional writer and creative talent and speaks to her audience today in ways other artists don’t.

“Swift is an intelligent and talented songwriter, and her writing skills are what made me focus on her,” Scala told the American-Statesman. “For me, it’s all about form (not just or even primarily about content). We will study Swift’s songs as poems and literary structures.”

The Swift class isn’t the only way college students in Central Texas can study a favorite artist this academic year. A Texas State University professor will teach a class on Harry Styles next spring for the university's Honors College.
