The nominations have been announced for the 2022 American Music Awards. The event will air live from Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. EST/PST, 7 p.m. CST on ABC.

Co-leading all female nominees is recent NSAI co-Songwriter of the Decade Taylor Swift, who joins Beyoncé with six nominations. They will face off in three categories: Artist of The Year, Favorite Female Pop Artist and Favorite Pop Album. Drake also earned six nods and is up for the evening's top honor, Artist of the Year, alongside artists with five nominations, including Adele, Harry Styles, and The Weeknd.

Notable as well is the artist leading all nominees with eight nominations, Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny. In addition, 2021's Favorite Male Latin Artist has achieved his first nomination for Artist of the Year. If he wins all eight awards, he will tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most awards in a single year. Overall, he is up for Favorite Touring Artist, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Male Pop Artist, Favorite Pop Album, Favorite Male Latin Artist, Favorite Latin Album, and Favorite Latin Song.

Nashville-based and chart-topping pop breakout artist GAYLE is nominated for New Artist of the Year in a competitive category alongside Dove Cameron, Latto, Måneskin and Steve Lacy.

As far as country's categories are concerned, just honored CMT Artist of the Year Cody Johnson is nominated for three AMAs -- Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, Favorite Country Song. He leads all country nominees at the ceremony.

The Favorite Male Country Artist category finds the previously mentioned Johnson nominated against Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and Walker Hayes. As for Favorite Female Country Artist, that finds Carrie Underwood competing against Lainey Wilson, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. Favorite Country Duo or Group sees Dan + Shay, Lady A, Old Dominion, Parmalee and Zac Brown Band nominated.

Favorite Country Album finds Johnson's "Human: The Double Album" up against Carrie Underwood's "Denim & Rhinestones," Luke Combs' "Growin' Up," Taylor Swift's "Red (Taylor's Version) and" Walker Hayes' "Country Stuff: The Album." Favorite Country Song closes out the country-specific categories with Johnson's "Til You Can't" up against Chris Stapleton's "You Should Probably Leave," Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter's "Thinking 'Bout You," Jordan Davis and Luke Bryan's "Buy Dirt" and Morgan Wallen's "Wasted on You."

As well, new categories for Favorite Rock Album and Favorite Rock Song, plus nods made towards favorites in the American pop-emerging Afrobeats and K-Pop genres, will also be highlighted. Moreover, more than 40 artists receivedtheir first-ever nominations. These include Jack Harlow (four), Tems (four), Latto (three), BLACKPINK (one), Anitta (one) and Swedish House Mafia (one). Also worth noting is that Elton John's two nods for Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Touring Artist make him the longest-recognized artist in AMA history to date. He was nominated for Top Pop/Rock Male in 1974 at the inaugural American Music Awards.

Fan voting is now open via VoteAMAs.com. The "2022 American Music Awards" winners are voted entirely by fans. Nominees are based on key fan interactions, including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses covering the eligibility period of Sept. 24, 2021, through Sept. 22, 2022.
