Taylor Swift coming to Ford Field: Concert tickets fetching $1,000+ in resale market

Desperate fans — or parents — eager to snag tickets for Taylor Swift’s sold-out Detroit shows next week have another possibility at hand.

Capital One is giving away four pairs of tickets for Swift’s Ford Field concerts — two pairs for the June 9 show and two pairs for June 10.

Entry to the giveaway contest must be made in person at Capital One’s Downtown Detroit Cafe, 511 Woodward, just north of the Spirit of Detroit Plaza. Signups will run through 6 p.m. Friday. The cafe opens at 7 a.m. weekdays, and the contest is available to everyone, not just Capital One customers.

Winners will be notified Monday.

The ticket giveaway comes as Swift’s tickets remain a hot commodity in Detroit and elsewhere on her ongoing Eras Tour: At secondary resellers such as StubHub and SeatGeek, seats for the Ford Field shows were going for $1,100 and upward as of Thursday, even getting into the $5,000 range for floor seats.

That’s reminiscent of the pricey secondary market action for recent Detroit visits by artists including Olivia Rodrigo and Bruce Springsteen, where tight supply and high demand also shot prices above $1,000.

But those were also smaller-scale shows. When you consider that a pair of Ford Field concerts involves more than 80,000 seats, you get a good idea of just how highly sought after Taylor Swift tickets are.

Note that the StubHub and SeatGeek prices are likely to fluctuate as next week’s shows approach — and could even drop dramatically at the last minute if sellers get desperate to dump tickets.
