Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Chicago: How to avoid Bad Blood with scammers

One of the biggest musical stars in the world is currently on tour and it has opened the door for scammers to take advantage.

Taylor Swift has been making stops around the country as part of the "Eras" tour. Tickets for the concerts are going for multiple hundreds of dollars and even thousands of dollars in some cases.

The huge tour has led to a rise in multiple scams, according to the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB said one victim from Oak Lawn, Illinois lost $350 on a Craigslist transaction. The scam victim said they reached out to the person who said they were selling the tickets, but as soon as money was sent for the concert, the person on the other end quit responding.

“In the era of primarily electronic exchanges, tickets and QR codes for entry may never be detected as fakes until you’re left standing at the gate," said Dennis Horton, director of the Rockford Regional Office of the BBB.

Horton said you should also be aware of fake websites, tickets and of course, merchandise.

Swift is scheduled to play in Chicago June 2-4, but the BBB is expecting more scams to pop up throughout the summer because of other concerts and other festivals.

Beyonce, Madonna, Dave Matthews and Bruce Springsteen are among artists playing in Chicago or southern Wisconsin this summer.

Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Ravinia and Summerfest are among popular music festivals in the Midwest where scammers try to take your money.

The BBB said it received hundreds of reports of fake tickets/merchandise last year in relation to those festivals.
