Taylor Swift has received an apology from Blur frontman Damon Albarn after a controversial interview where he suggested the pop star doesn't write her own songs.
Albarn, who is also known for the virtual band Gorillaz, tweeted: "I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally."
"The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand."

This was a response to Swift's tweet which called him out for the comments. She wrote: "I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write all of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging. You don't have to like my songs but it's really f**ked up to try and discredit my writing."
She followed the tweet up by saying that she wrote it "all by myself".
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Albarn was asked his opinion on various pop stars, including Swift and Billie Eilish, after saying that a lot of modern musicians are "relying on sound and attitude".
Albarn challenged the interviewer to name a musician who isn't doing that, and the interviewer said that "Taylor Swift is an excellent songwriter".

"She doesn't write her own songs," Albarn replied, saying that co-writing a song "doesn't count".
"Co-writing is very different to writing. I'm not hating on anybody. I'm just saying that there's a big songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. Doesn't mean the outcome can't be really great."
He added that he is "more attracted to" songwriters like Billie Eilish, who co-writes her songs with her brother Finneas, because it's "darker – less endlessly upbeat".
Albarn's comments received widespread backlash from Swift's fans, who praised her for calling him out and accused him of being misogynistic towards a popular female musician.
