Taylor Swift Revealed as 'The Voice' Mega Mentor for Upcoming Season

Taylor Swift is about to shake things up at "The Voice," as the star just scored a special role on the singing competition.

Swifties will be excited to learn that Taylor will be joining "The Voice" Season 17 as the show's Mega Mentor.

The "You Need to Calm Down" singer won't be a regular judge; like Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson or Gwen Stefani ... but she will be tasked with giving advice and preparation tips to EACH team.

"I know it's supposed to be a big star," Shelton said, before Legend added that, "I think the person's one of the most succesful people in music."

Shelton made a joke that he couldn't possibly be the mentor AND be a judge, just as the real Mega Mentor exited her trailer and greeted the guys.

"Hey Tay!" Shelton exclaimed ... before realizing what had just happened.

Even though we're all excited, fans will have to wait a bit, as Taylor won't join the show until the competition's Knockout Rounds begin airing -- most likely in late October.

Season 17 of "The Voice" premieres September 23 on NBC.
