How huge is this Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift story?

It’s so big that when Swift changes one word in a song during a concert in Argentina it jolts social media around the world.

During her concert Saturday in Buenos Aires, Swift was singing “Karma” with Kelce watching. Here’s how the song is usually sung:

Karma takes all my friends to the summit

Karma is the guy on the screen

Coming straight home to me

But on Saturday, Swift sang: “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs.”

Clips of that moment were shared millions of times.

CNN reported the lyric change about Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, made a big impact on the iTunes song chart.

Harry Enten, CNN’s Senior Data Reporter, noted the song had gone up 184 spots in the iTunes rankings in 24 hours.

“The iTunes song chart, Taylor Swift’s ‘Karma’ on Saturday on iTunes pre-Kelce reference was 199,” Enten said. “Look at where we ended up on Sunday: 15th. It jumped over 180 places on the iTunes chart merely because Taylor Swift decided to reference her Kansas City Chief lover, and we see this right here, a big change.”

On Monday, “Karma” had dropped to 71st on the international iTunes chart and was 100th in the United States. The buzz has fallen a bit, but the song still got a bump off the reference to the Chiefs star.

Enten normally covers politics, but this Kelce-Swift story remains hugely popular.
