TBI: Dickson man shot fatally by police after drawing gun on officers
A Dickson County man was fatally shot by police after aiming a gun at officers, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Two City of Dickson police officers responded to a report of suicidal man at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wyburn Downs subdivision in Burns. During the interaction, the man pointed a gun at officers and at least one of the officers shot her gun at the man, according to the TBI. The man later died at a Dickson hospital.
Neither officer was hurt in the incident, the TBI stated.
TBI special agents continue to investigate the shooting at the request of 23rd Judicial District Attorney General Ray Crouch.
“TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews,” according to a TBI statement. “Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the district attorney general for his further review and consideration.”

The TBI acts solely as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether the actions of an officer were justified in these types of matters,” the TBI statement continued. “That decision rests with the district attorney general requesting TBI’s involvement.”
