TBT and AfterShocks returning to Wichita this summer

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita’s love of basketball and Wichita State Shocker alums is getting rewarded again. The Basketball Tournament (TBT) has named Wichita State University one of its regional and quarterfinal sites for the 2024 event.

The AfterShocks, a team of Shocker alums, will be back this year. Conner Frankamp and Markis McDuffie have already signed on to be on the team again.

Last year, 7,202 fans showed up to support the AfterShocks in their quarterfinals matchup. The turnout set a TBT single-game attendance record. WSU owns four of TBT’s top-five attendance records and seven of TBT’s top-10 records.

“Our event owes so much to Wichita State University and its fans,” TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar said in a news release. “The Roundhouse has been home to some of our best and most electrifying Elam Endings ever. We look forward to working with the Athletic Department and Visit Wichita again to break more records this summer.”

TBT has 64 teams competing for a $1 million winner-take-all prize. It attracts some of the best players in the world. WSU and Visit Wichita will host the Wichita regional at Charles Koch Arena from July 20 to 24. The quarterfinal game in Wichita will be on July 30.

Wichita is the longest-running location in TBT’s 11-year history.

“This marks the fifth summer TBT has come to Wichita, and it’s an annual reminder of the passion and excitement the city of Wichita has for basketball and the Shockers,” Wichita State senior associate athletic director Brad Pittman said. “We look forward to putting on a great show once again in 2024.”

More roster announcements will come this spring on the AfterShocks social media page.
