The Venice Symphony begins its 49th season with what music director Troy Quinn describes as the “biggest and boldest” concert of the season.

The program is dubbed “Tchaik Strikes” and features Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, which Quinn describes in a statement as “a very personal symphony and a tour-de-force of an orchestral piece, brimming with excitement and drama.”

The concert also features the overture to Mikhail Glinka’s opera “Ruslan and Ludmila” and German composer Paul Hindemith’s 1943 “Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber,” which Quinn describes as a “bright and lavish work and new staple in the classic repertoire.”

In a statement, Symphony President and CEO Christine Kasten said the organization is ready to return to the concert hall as the region regroups after Hurricane Ian.

“We know that music has the ability to lift up and unite a community during difficult times,” she said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming back patrons and meeting the many new people attending the symphony this season.”

The concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Venice Performing Arts Center, 1 Indian Way, Venice. Free pre-concert talks, featuring Quinn and moderator Joseph Caulkins, are held at 6:30 p.m. before evening concerts and 2:30 p.m. before afternoon programs.

Concert tickets are $33-$61 and half price for students. For more information; 941-207-8822; thevenicesymphony.org
