TCU lands commitment from Minnesota transfer receiver

TCU addressed a pressing need by picking up a transfer commitment on Sunday.

Minnesota wide receiver and Dallas native Dylan Wright committed to the Horned Frogs. The 6-foot-3 receiver had 18 receptions for 365 yards and two touchdowns in 2021 followed by 17 receptions for 280 yards with a score last year.

Wright was a four-star recruit and ranked the No. 70 player overall in the Class of 2019. He signed with Texas A&M out of West Mesquite before transferring to Minnesota in 2020.

The Horned Frogs recently lost outside receivers Jordan Hudson and Blair Conwright to the transfer portal. Depth at that position already was a question mark before their departure and those two leaving only put more pressure on the staff to address the position.

That’s why the Wright pickup is significant. TCU will likely to look to add one more outside receiver with more and more players entering the portal with the close of spring practice across the country.

Another name that could be on commitment watch is offensive lineman Coltin Deery. Deery spent two seasons at Maryland and appeared in 10 games with two starts last season. Deery started at center for the Terps, but could also slide to guard where TCU is looking for more options headed into fall camp.
