TCU wide receiver, a former five-star recruit, enters transfer portal

TCU wide receiver Jordan Hudson has entered the transfer portal, multiple sources confirmed to the Star-Telegram.

Things had been trending in this direction since spring practice. Hudson was coveted by a number of programs with promises of increased name, image and likeness opportunities and benefits, according to a source.

It’s a disappointing end to Hudson’s tenure in Fort Worth. Hudson, from Garland, was one of the highest ranked recruits in Sonny Dykes’ 2022 recruiting class, earning a five-star grade from the recruiting service On3 while being considered a top-100 prospect by other services.

Hudson had a productive freshman season with 14 receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He was in line to start at one of the outside receiver spots opposite Savion Williams and took first team reps all spring.

However, Hudson didn’t take the leap some expected and wasn’t among the standouts of the spring. The outside receiver room now becomes a bit thinner with Hudson’s departure.

In the short term, JP Richardson could be an option to move outside to replace Hudson. Richardson was arguably the top player this spring and has exceeded expectations. The staff is also excited about freshman Cordale Russell, who didn’t practice in the spring, but is on track to get back on the field by the summer.

Like Hudson, he was also a four-star, top-100 prospect. The Horned Frogs will also go in the portal and look to add another receiver that can play outside and there’s no shortage of options.

Cornerbacks Noah Daniels and Keontae Jenkins entered the transfer portal on Monday. Seven TCU players have entered the transfer portal since spring practice concluded.
