Sources told UP that the car change was not coincidental – the Ukrainian side had intercepted Russian communications which revealed that the enemy had learned of Tantsyura’s intended movement at the front for the next several days in detail, allowing Ukrainian forces to make the necessary adjustments.

The publication notes that the question of where the enemy received information in both cases remains open.

In early May, the leader of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, claimed that his militants had allegedly destroyed a car near Bakhmut that might have been carrying Tantsyura, though Prigozhin later refuted his own claim.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also confirmed that the officer was alive.

Tantsyura assumed command of  the Territorial Defense Forces on May 15, 2022. In 2019, he was the Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces Operation, and as of September 2021, he was the Commander of the Southern Military Grouping.
