Teacher, coach facing allegations resigns from Raceland

Nov. 22—RACELAND — Raceland-Worthington Superintendent Larry Coldiron said a teacher and coach had resigned from his positions in the district on Monday during a regular board meeting.

The teacher in question, who will not be named at this time due to the absence of criminal charges, was alleged to have engaged in inappropriate communications with two female students after a screenshot of a sexually motivated conversation began circulating throughout the community.

Throughout The Daily Independent's consistent updates and investigation into the matters, another female student — not involved in the alleged screenshots — went on the record to discuss a similar experience with the teacher, claiming he also exhibited "grooming" behaviors before escalating to sexual contact immediately upon her graduation.

During Monday's school board meeting, Coldiron, nor the usually vocal crowd, made any statements in regard to the announcement of the teacher's resignation.

In a follow-up with Coldiron, the superintendent said the teacher did not acknowledge any wrongdoing in his resignation.

Coldiron was asked if Kentucky State Police had concluded its investigation, to which Coldiron responded: "At this time we have not been informed there has been a conclusion to the investigation."

It was previously rumored that Kentucky State Police had launched an investigation into allegations of grooming and sexual abuse by various faculty in the district after a special-called board meeting was canceled due to a pending investigation.

However, Trooper Shane Goodall, KSP's Post 14 public affairs officer, said he had not been made aware of an ongoing investigation.
