Summer is just around the corner, which means that it's time to show some appreciation for the school teachers who've been through quite a lot over the past couple of years. National Teacher Appreciation Week takes place in the first week of May, so this year's celebration begins May 1. While Teacher Appreciation Day doesn't come around until May 3, there will be perks all week for hardworking teachers in the market for a delicious meal.
Whether you need a little something sweet or some takeout after a long day, the first week of May is a good time for teachers to treat themselves to something tasty. Major chains like Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee's and Sonic all have deals coming up, so grab your school ID card and gear up for a well-deserved discount.
1. Applebee's
It makes sense that a restaurant with an apple in its name would be first in line to celebrate teachers. In past years, certain Applebee's locations have offered free meals and discounts to educators on Teacher Appreciation Day. But Applebee's franchises can choose whether or not they want to participate in promotions, so check in with your local restaurant to see if they're offering something special.
2. Buffalo Wild Wings
We're thinking Buffalo Wild Wings will bring back its promotion from last Teacher Appreciation Week: 20% off your order when you dine in or place an order over the phone. Just bring along a valid school ID card to show your server.
3. Sonic
Sonic's Limeades for Learning, a fund that helps teachers get the supplies they need, will ramp up its donations this May, and even give away some burgers to teachers. On May 3, teachers can snag a free cheeseburger with any purchase (tots, please!) as a little thank you from the drive-in chain. Just be sure to download the Sonic app and enroll in the Sonic Teachers Circle, an educator-exclusive rewards program, for your free burger (and may some other treats along the way).
4. Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers
Treat yourself to something sweet (and free) this week. From May 2 to May 6, teachers can get a free mini sundae at Freddy's, no purchase required. Just flash your school ID card and get ready to dig in.
5. Panda Express
Regardless of teacher status, everyone can get in on this deal from Panda Express. To encourage folks to buy gift cards for the teachers in their lives, the chain is offering a free bowl with your purchase of a $30 gift card online. So snag a gift card and keep it for yourself (or pass it along to a teacher who needs their spirits lifted).
