I-Team: Cleveland police car on patrol runs out of gas

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Fox 8 I-Team has found that officers on patrol in a Cleveland Police car ran out of gas last weekend.

The police chief’s office said the officers were going to get gas when they ran out.

Sgt. Freddy Diaz said in an e-mail, “The officers involved were not responding to an active call for service and there was no impact on public safety operations as a result of this incident. Despite its lack of direct impact on public safety operations, an internal review is being conducted to ensure adherence to our fuel policy.”

Sgt. Diaz told the Fox 8 I-Team that the car was towed, refueled and put back in service.
