Teams scramble through Menasha Piggly Wiggly for 15th annual Race for the Hungry

MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Volunteers raced to collect food for the hungry at a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Menasha on Wednesday.

Two teams scrambled through the store’s aisles with a ‘shopping wish list’ in search of food for those struggling with hunger for the North Shore Bank’s 15th annual Race for the Hungry.

All the food collected during the race benefitted the St. Joseph’s Food Program. Officials with St. Joseph’s say they have seen an increased need for food following the Holiday season.

“The need is growing. Each day, we’ve seen our numbers increase for the last several weeks, if not the last year,” said St. Joseph’s Program Coordinator Traci Junkins. “So the need for events like this, or donations in general through food or monetary donations through our website, is definitely a great need right now.”

Additionally, North Shore Bank is providing a monetary donation to the St. Joseph’s Food Program to help those in need.
