SOMERSET — Teamworks has a new owner, new management and plans (already in motion) for a significant face-lift.

Teamworks/Indoor Sports, LLC late last month purchased the previously franchised sport and recreation facility business, as well as the building, on Lees River Avenue and has begun renovations.

Among the scheduled improvements, according to a Teamworks press release, are:

• A widened, non-boarded turf field with brand new turf

• New synthetic surface for volleyball, basketball, pickleball, and futsal

• Outdoor sand volleyball courts

• New small, boarded field with retractable batting cages — for baseball and softball practices

• Party room improvements

• Exterior building repair and painting

• Repaved parking lot

• Added insulation

• Deep cleaning and fresh paint on the interior and exterior

This, according to the press release, is the seventh Teamworks indoor sport and recreation facility for Indoor Sports, which also owns Five Star Sports Rehab & Physical Therapy in Acton, Teamworks Sports Performance in Acton, and Teamworks Adventure Camp in Westford.

Teamworks says the renovations will be done in phases to minimize disruptions to its operation.

“The building is in need of some tender loving care,” said Steve Simmons, the Teamworks Somerset general manager. “Indoor Sports is committed to restoring prestige to the building.”

He said the the $1 million-plus renovation will produce changes people will be able to see. “To say we’re excited is an understatement,” Simmons said. “We really value the people of Somerset.”

Simmons said the emphasis is not only on improving the facility but providing top-flight customer service, creating a family atmosphere. “I think people will be excited,” he said. “We’re going to draw business back toward us.”

“We’re really trying to improve this facility so that we can offer a better product and more programs, while staying at an affordable price point,” Teamworks president, Kevin O’Connell, said in the press release.
