Texas Tech center Clayton Franks announced Wednesday he's had his name entered into the NCAA transfer portal.

"Thank you to Texas Tech and the City of Lubbock for the memories made and great people I have been acquainted with," he wrote on Twitter.

Franks, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior from Mansfield Legacy, played in eight games last season as a backup. He competed for the starting center job during the Red Raiders' spring practice that finished up last week, but Dennis Wilburn started at that spot during the spring game on Saturday.

Franks signed with Tech out of high school and has been in the program for four years.
