East Central Emergency Network to purchase new dispatch system

Apr. 25—DANVILLE — The East Central Emergency Network, serving Montour and Columbia counties, approved the purchase of a new computer aided dispatch system for more than $285,000 Thursday.

An agreement between Tyler Technologies Inc. and Central Susquehanna Regional 911 System was approved by emergency network executive board members contingent upon solicitor review.

Though the agreement names the Central Susquehanna Regional 911 System as the "client," it stipulates the East Central Emergency Network is responsible for fees resulting from the purchase of the dispatch system.

The investment summary includes $176,650 for Tyler software, $80,710 for services and $28,000 for estimated travel for a total one-time cost of $285,360.

The upgrade became necessary as the network's current dispatch system is no longer supported by the vendor, according to Montour County Commissioner Trevor Finn.

"To realize cost savings through economies of sale, ECEN is contracting with CSR for CAD," Finn said.

The cost of the new system will be paid in a 29 percent to 71 percent split between Montour and Columbia counties, Finn said.

Also at Thursday's executive board meeting, Finn commended the work of the Columbia County geographic information systems office which also maintains the maps for Montour County.

The commissioner said he recently spoke with someone who had moved to Danville from New Jersey and had to change their address using the system and had a great experience with the office and employees.
